FAQ chord symbols
- How can I put chord symbols under / above notes?
- 1) use the arrow keys to go to the note where the symbol should be placed and type the first letter of the chord symbol;
- 2) in the window that is now visible, you can type the rest (if necessary). If you type fis, MusiCAD will change it to F# after <Enter>. bes becomes Bb;
- 3) type <Enter> to confirm text input.
- The chord appears at the position you define under [Options|Text formatting|Chord symbols].
- Entering chord symbols suddenly doesn't work anymore...
- You probably (unconsciously) selected a different text input mode. Make sure the text input mode button is not pressed.
- The chord symbols are placed under the staff. I want them above the staff!
- Use the togglepos button to swap the text and chord symbols.
- The layout template mc-togglepos that is linked to the button will then be executed.
- How can I place two chord symbols the length of a half note under a whole note so that MusiCAD also plays them correctly?
- Two possibilities:
- write down 1/1 as two tied 1/2 and write down the desired chord symbol for each 1/2.
- write down two (hidden) rests of 1/2 (rests made invisible with <x>) and hang a (following) note of 1/1 on the first rest of 1/2. Then put the desired chord symbol at both rests.
- I would like to use alternative chord symbols in a repetition, how do I write that down?
- Place the extra chord as usual, and then use <.> to create an alternative chord symbol with its own characteristics (position, font, color, etc.).
- You can set the formatting of the alternative chord symbols as [Options|Text formatting|Chord Symbols-2]
- I want to put down chord symbols as is customary in Belgium (Do Re Mi instead of C D E). How?

- the automatic parts are disabled
- Can I leave out the chord symbols for non-chord players?
- This can be done very easily in the main screen with the button. Clicking again makes the chord symbols visible again.
