Text files

From MusiCAD
(Redirected from Text file)

Plain text files can be used in many programs to store readable information without formatting (italics, bold, fonts, etc.). Often they have the extension .txt MusiCAD melody files, templates, keyboard definitions etc. are also in fact plain text files, they just have a different extension).

If you want to include a text block (like lyrics) in a piece of music, click below the music, after which you can enter your text after confirmation.

Textblocks containing square brackets chord symbols can be displayed by MusiCAD in text-with-chord notation: the brackets are omitted, and the chords (in a different font/ color/position) are included, and are transposable

If you want to use more text in the header or footer than the spaces available, instead of a macro you can specify a file name in angle brackets eg: <text.txt> The contents of the file will then replace that header.

In edit mode, use [Edit|Insert|Text|TextBlock] to embed a text file. You can also use the same trick 'in the middle of the page' by including such a reference to a text in a section heading.

If you include references to text files in headings or sections, these texts will be 'embedded' in their entirety in the MusiCAD file.

You can create text files (among other things) by typing a non-existing file name at [File|Open], such as mytext.txt

The extension .txt is important here! In the now visible window you can type your text.

A few special text files used by MusiCAD are:

REGFORM.TXT - The contents of the registration form as you can Email it.

ERRORLOG.TXT - This stores all 4-digit errors, even if you choose to ignore them yourself.
